The list of projects selected for the first FairCarboN call for projects revealed

The independent jury appointed by the ANR and made up of 8 experts in the themes of the FairCarboN exploratory PEPR has selected 6 projects.

The ANR has announced the list of projects selected under the first FairCarboN call for projects. A total of 6 projects have been selected by the independent jury appointed by the ANR:

    CABESTAN (The carbon cycle of the land-sea interface in the context of foreshores and coastal wetlands on the Atlantic and Channel coasts) ;
    CANETE (Efficiency of microbial use of soil carbon and nutrients in managed terrestrial ecosystems);
    DEEP-C (Carbon sink or methane source - local and global assessment of the role of lentic waters in the climate system);
    Drought ForC (Impacts of drought on carbon fluxes and stocks in forest ecosystems: experimental studies and modelling);
    PEACE (Changes in permafrost ecosystems in the Arctic: carbon and nutrient cycling in terrestrial and aquatic environments);
    TROPECOS (Carbon balances of tropical coastal ecosystems in the Anthropocene).

These 6 projects will receive funding of around €9m. It should be noted that the aim of this call for projects is to remove the obstacles to the scientific problems that persist in terms of environmental, biological and socio-economic parameters.  The key processes governing the carbon cycle in continental ecosystems and its links with other major biogeochemical cycles are also concerned.

The aim of the PEPR FairCarboN calls for projects will be to mobilise the national community spread across different institutions and to draw on the strengths of research facilities in mainland France, the French overseas territories and internationally. Mobilising this vast scientific community is a sine qua non for studying the contribution of continental ecosystems to climate change mitigation.
