Annual Meeting 2023

On 9, 10 and 11 October 2023, the kick‑off seminar of the PEPR FairCarboN programme was held in Valpré, near Lyon. This three‑day meeting aimed to share the objectives, challenges, and tools of the FairCarboN research programme, bringing together researchers and partners to build a common scientific foundation for the years ahead.

The kick‑off seminar of the PEPR FairCarboN brought together nearly 90 participants, including the programme coordinators, project leaders, members of the stakeholder committee, representatives of relevant research infrastructures, scientific networks and research administration managers.

Over three days, discussions focused on the various targeted projects, the 2022 call‑for‑projects awardees, the stakeholders, and the programme’s partners. Valérie Masson‑Delmotte, paleoclimatologist at the CEA and co‑chair of IPCC Working Group I, opened the seminar by placing the research programme in the broader context of global warming. Stakeholders also had the opportunity to express their expectations and engage in round‑table discussions with the FairCarboN scientific community.

The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the programme, its constituent projects, and the networks, initiatives and programmes within the French research ecosystem related to the study of carbon in terrestrial ecosystems. This event is fully aligned with the PEPR FairCarboN’s ambition to build a strong and cohesive research community.
