FairCarboN start-up seminar

The PEPR FairCarboN start-up seminar was held on 9, 10 and 11 October at Valpré, near Lyon. The aim of this 3-day meeting was to share the objectives, challenges and tools of the FairCarboN research programme.

The PEPR FairCarboN kick-off seminar was attended by almost 90 people, including programme coordinators, project leaders, members of the stakeholders' committee, heads of the research infrastructures and networks concerned, and research administration officials.

These 3 days were devoted to exchanges between the various targeted projects, the winning projects from the 2022 call for projects, the stakeholders and the programme partners. Valérie Masson Delmotte, palaeoclimatologist at the CEA and co-chair of IPCC Group 1, introduced the seminar by recontextualising the research programme from the point of view of global warming. The stakeholders were also given the opportunity to express their expectations of the programme and to exchange views with the FairCarboN scientific community at round tables.

The seminar provided an overview of the programme and its constituent projects, as well as of networks, facilities and programmes belonging to the French research ecosystem and linked to the study of carbon in continental ecosystems. This event is part of PEPR FairCarboN's drive to bring together a strong, cohesive research community.
