A PEACE launch !

The PEACE project was launched on 27 and 28 February in Toulouse!

Over the next 5 years, the PEACE project will be studying the effects of climate change on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems at high latitudes, and in particular the carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus cycles. These ecosystems are unique in that they develop on permafrost (frozen) soils, which contain massive quantities of carbon.

This project brings together around twenty people from ten different laboratories. It is coordinated by Liudmila Shirokova (University of Toulouse, GET) and co-coordinated by Julien Fouché (SupAgro, LISAH), Laure Gandois (CNRS, CRBE) and Antoine Séjourné (U. Paris Saclay, GEOPS).

Over the two days, participants were able to initiate discussions on the main areas of work: the synthesis of existing data, future studies, particularly on three pilot sites (Scandinavia, Greenland and Canada) and the integration and development of different modelling strategies.
